About the Contest

‘100 Farmers. 100 Stories’ is a photo story or video story contest with an objective to curate 100 inspiring stories of farmers across India. Through this it aims to highlight farmers and their eternal love for their profession. TAFE’s Be a #FarmDost invites participants to meet with farmers and capture their inspiring stories in the form of photo stories or video stories.

TAFE’s ‘Be a #FarmDost’ initiative is primarily driven online with an objective to highlight the importance of agriculture in India, inspiring people to realize the true value of the invisible heroes – the farmers. It aims to bring back the farmers into our social consciousness while giving agriculture the pride of its place as a profession and a career option.

    How to Participate (Individuals)

  • #Participants will have to share a photograph or a video of a farmer with a compelling and inspiring positive story about the farmer.
  • # Each participant can submit a maximum of 3 entries. You can click here to submit your entries.
  • # All participants must submit a ‘verification photo’ of them standing next to the farmer along with the details of the farmer.
  • # The participant should create a unique folder on Google drive. The photograph / video should be uploaded in the folder along with the verification photo. The story can be uploaded as a PDF document on the same folder.
  • # Photographs or videos once submitted cannot be changed.

    How to Participate (Creative Agencies)

  • #Participating teams will have will have to share a photograph or a video of a farmer with a compelling and inspiring positive story about the farmer.
  • # Each branch or location of an agency can have upto 3 teams and submit a maximum of 3 entries. You can click here to submit your entries.
  • # All teams must submit a ‘verification photo’ of atleast one member of the team standing next to the farmer along with the details of the farmer.
  • # The participants should create a unique folder on Google drive. The photograph / video should be uploaded in the folder along with the verification photo. The story can be uploaded as a PDF document on the same folder.
  • # Photographs or videos once submitted cannot be changed.

T R Kesavan

T R Kesavan is the Group President for Corporate Relations and Alliances at TAFE with over 40 years of experience in a wide-range of domains including Manufacturing, Design, Sales & Marketing, Product Management, Corporate Partnerships and Alliances. He is a veteran in the fields of agriculture and automobiles, while his expertise also covers industries like construction, oil and material handling.

A recipient of several honours and awards, he has held many leadership positions at Industry bodies and forums like CII, FICCI, UN-Habitat Alliance and US-India Business Council, to name a few. Kesavan is passionate about creating and nurturing strategic initiatives and throughout his career, he has mentored and developed hundreds of professionals. Currently, he is the Chairman of the National Committee on Agriculture at FICCI and the President of Tractor and Mechanization Association (TMA).

Sunitha Subramaniyan

Sunitha Subramaniyan is an accomplished communications professional with over 20 years of experience in leading an entire spectrum of communications, that includes corporate communications, brand marketing, internal communications, crisis communications, digital and social media, driving public and media relations and community service initiatives. She believes in creating positive interactions across all communication touchpoints. She specializes in crafting high-impact communication strategies and is recognized for her commitment to excellence and ability to conceptualize and lead cross-functional teams in strategic and critical, communication campaigns. Currently, she heads the Corporate Communications function at the TAFE Group, an INR 93 billion company, based out of Chennai, India. Being closely associated with Agriculture and Farm Machinery business and as an architect of the ‘Be a #FarmDost’ initiative, Sunitha keeps farming close to her heart and the greater good of the farming community as a subject of primary focus. Creativity in communication has been her hallmark. She has curated, managed and executed several award-winning campaigns in the industry and has also been inducted in the PR Hall of Fame by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) in the year 2018.

Ram Sharan Verma

‘Padma Shri’ awardee, Ram Saran Verma is a farmer who is noted for bringing advanced and more profitable farming techniques to small Indian farmers and rural villages in Uttar Pradesh. He was one of the first few to introduce Tissue Farming in UP. Verma is the recipient of several awards for his contribution to the field of agriculture, and his farming techniques have been studied and replicated across the country. In 2019, he was awarded India's fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri. He is a recipient of the Jagjivan Ram Kisan Puraskar in 2007 and 2010 and the National Horticultural Award in 2014.

B N Kumar

B N Kumar, veteran Journalist, writer, columnist, image builder, media trainer and environmentalist, has close to 45 years of experience in mass communications. An alumnus of Osmania University, BNK began to write for media in 1975. He went onto work with reputed media organisations like Business India, The Week, Times of India, Economic Times, Indian Express, Mid-Day and Newstime, to name a few. He played a key role in setting up Ogilvy PR (then O&M PR) – the first PR arm of Ogilvy in India. Till recently, he was an Executive Director at Concept PR which has won several national and international awards and accolades including the prestigious America’s PR World Award for innovative Social Communication. Of late, he has been focusing on social communication, picking up environmental and other causes. BNK is the Governing Council Chairman at PRCI for the pan-India body of PR, media, corpcom, advertising, HR and marketing professionals.

Ananda Ray

With over 20 years of experience in advertising, Ananda has seen the industry evolve and change considerably with the times. He started his career at what was then known as Anthem: Radeus (now TBWA Anthem) and has since spent time in agencies such as Ogilvy Mumbai, Bates Kolkata and Mudra Mumbai. However, for the last 12 years, he has been with Rediffusion, one of the longest serving Creative resources in the agency. During his journey at Rediffusion, he feels he has been fortunate to have been stationed at almost every Rediffusion branch across the country; he is currently to be found in the Mumbai office. Although he is a ‘copywriter’ by skill, he sees himself as a ‘communicator of brands’, with writing only serving as his tool. In this capacity, he has helped to be the voice of brands as diverse as The Taj Group of Hotels, Airtel, Moods Condoms, TAFE, Eveready, Amante, L&T Realty, to name just a few. He enjoys music, movies and dabbles with writing and photography on his Instagram and Twitter feeds, both with a handle that perhaps best describes his view of the world: ‘oddservations’.

Hari Ganesh

Hari Ganesh is an experienced brand management professional with 18+ years of cross category experience working in the marketing and advertising industry. He has worn many hats as a brand manager, an account management professional, as an entrepreneur and as account Planner on some of the biggest brands in India. An engineer by education Hari last stint was at Rediffusion, one of India`s largest and most respected advertising firms as the Head of their operations in West & South. Given his varied background Hari brings to the table a sound business sense and strong strategic skills. He has worked with agencies including Hakuhodo, Ogilvy, TBWA, Saatchi & Saatchi and Rediffusion. He managed some very successful and popular brands like TATA Sons, TATA Motors, TAJ, SBI, BPCL, P&G, Skoda, OLX, ITC, TVS Tyres, TAFE, Henkel, Panasonic, CavinKare and Moods.

Faizan Patel

A professional lifestyle photographer from New Delhi, Faizan Patel divides his time between High-end Weddings, Fashion, Food, Product and Lifestyle Photography and his love for travelling. For him, photography is a piece of art that can be preserved for ages, as it freezes moments in form of pictures. His clientele boasts of names such as IndiGo, FabIndia, WeWorks, Carrier Midea, Vogue, Renault, Jaguar, Foodhall and Samsung to name a few.
